Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Jaguar Business Club is the merged club of three former student organizations (Global Economics Club, Accounting Club, and Real Estate Club) under the Inter‑Club Council at Southwestern College (since Spring 2025). It is devoted to providing students with a practical understanding of business, including real-estate investing & development, trading and portfolio management, wealth-building strategies, contracts, compliance, and more.

  • The club offers a wide range of resources. These include but are not limited to:

    1. Our newsletter (The Jaguar’s Gazette)

    2. JBC Resources (Online library with student-made articles)

    3. Weekly stock market analysis (members only)

    4. Guest speakers (CPAs and other financial professionals)

    5. Study-workshops for FINRA Exams (SIE-focused)

    6. Competitive opportunities (e.g., Harvard Global Case Competition, the Fed Challenge, and soon the Wharton Challenge).

  • Any student at Southwestern College with an interest in business, economics, accounting, CIS, real-estate, trading, or entrepreneurship is welcome to participate. Membership is ideal for anyone who wants to bridge classroom learning with real-world business practice.

  • Official club meetings are every Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, held in Building 25-106 on the main campus (900 Otay Lakes Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91910).

  • The club is separated into four cohorts. Anyone can join any of the teams below. The President oversees each:

    1. Managers and Executives Team

    2. The Real Estate Investment Group

    3. The Tournaments Team

    4. General Associates (regular memberships)

  • Activities include guest speakers, SIE/FINRA study-together workshops, stock market analysis, networking, hands-on projects, competitions (e.g., case competitions, debate tournaments), tournament preparation, and real-estate investment experiences through the club’s special cohorts.

  • The Jaguar Real Estate Group is a member-driven LLC (JREIG LLC) affiliated with and formed by the club to provide students with a real-world investment experience in real estate (acquisition, underwriting, project management, flipping contracts).

Note: JREIG is a separate legal entity and not financially tied to the college or the club’s general funds.

  • Although membership is free of charge, members are expected to commit the time required for the positions and committees they belong to. In the event any member’s participation is hindered from external constraints, we have a peer-to-peer support system, where obligations are assumed by an executive or manager.

  • If you’d like to join or get more information, you can attend one of the meetings (Wednesdays 12–1 pm at Bldg. 25-106) or email the club at jaguarbusiness.swc@gmail.com.

  • Both. The club engages in workshops, networking sessions, as well as team-based tournaments, real-estate project groups (via JREIG), and collaborative learning sessions (e.g., study-together for SIE exam). You’ll have options to work alone or in teams depending on the activity.
